NEWS UPDATES

AUGUST 2009

We had a fantastic time performing "Children of the Rainbow", our theatre production for the summer. We travelled all over the farm and told a wonderful story about crossing over into other dimensions, questing, friendship and joy.

JUNE 2009

We had a great open house at the farm to celebrate Spring this year. There were kids games in the field, a number of community visioning gatherings, a Munay-Ki workshop by Janet and a Co-Creative Gardening one with Sasha Cuff. The kids put on talent shows and there was a lovely potluck that merged visitors to Mystique with more members of the Kaslo community. A bunch of work got done, including finally getting it cleared up around the waterbox and a bench put in. It was wonderful to connect with everyone who came and we look forward to future meetings with many of them.

FEBRUARY 2009

Janet went to Osyoos for the weekend and received all nine rites of the Munay-Ki from Sue Peters. She is now able to share the rites with others and has been giving them to David and Raw Scott.

OCTOBER 2008

Our annual Hallowe'en Spook Show was more successful than ever with a wonderful fireworks display, particularly spooky haunted house, hide-and-go-treat and amazing costumes.

OCTOBER 2008

We had a litter of 12 adorable Akbash puppies born in the chicken barn this month. Akbash are an old Turkish work-dog breed, and from what we've seen so far of their mother, they are going to be amazing dogs.

SEPTEMBER 2008

Janet went to the Wise Woman Weekend in Naramata and presented two workshops on Food and Spirituality - Nourishing the Divine Temple.

SEPTEMBER 2008

We acquired four Icelandic Sheep this month. They are happily grazing in the old chicken run and their wool is incredibly soft. Two white and two black.

AUGUST 2008

The Third Annual Gaia's Garden Harvest Faire was a great day for all who braved the rain. We had entertainment on the stage all day long, kids events including a scavenger hunt, workshops for tai-chi and meditation, the famous pie-eating contest and dunktank, world dance performances and fire-side dancing into the night.

AUGUST 2008

The Kootenay Lodge and Farm Players performed a wonderful lip-synched rendition of "The Magic Flute" on our stage in the field to delighted audiences.

JUNE 2008

We got the bottom of the chicken barn all dialed-up this month with a large, new pen and perching area leading out into a 1/4 acre free range area. We purchased a variety of chicks--Americanas, Rhode Island Red and Black Austriolop--that are growing quickly and staying very healthy.

APRIL 2008

The Spring Festival Awareness in Naramata was an excellent opportunity for Janet to expand her food workshops and have a bigger audience. She shared her knowledge on the connection between food and spirituality with over 50 people.

OCTOBER 2007

Our Hallowe'en Spookshow was great fun this year, with some of the most amazing costumes we've ever seen. We set up trick-or-treating stations in the orchard, had story-telling around the fire and of course the great fireworks display.

SEPTEMBER 2007

Well, the Second Annual Gaia's Garden Harvest Faire had to be cancelled this year due to pouring rain. However, we spent a great day juicing apples for those willing to brave the weather.

JUNE 2007

After being set back a bit by breaking her shoulder, Janet managed to finish her Thesis on "Herbs for Intestinal Cleansing" and is now a Master Herbalist.

JUNE 2007

Janet taught a three week cooking class on Cooking for Cleansing, Raw Foods and Alkaline Foods.

MAY 2007

The Kootenay Lodge and Farm entry in Kaslo's May-Day Parade was a smashing success. We had a 16 foot long paper mache sea monster on the back of the dump truck, moving up and down like swimming through the lake, with Janet scuba diving on the trailer with the girls as mermaids and an octopus.

MAY 2007

Janet went to Penticton and studied with Hank Pelsner for a week to become a Certified Colon Hydrotherapist. Now we just need to purchase some equipment and get set up to start helping people cleanse their colons.

FEBRUARY/MARCH 2007

Janet, Johnny and Dave did a 30 day deep intestinal cleanse. The results were again terrific! It was Dr. Richard Anderson's cleanse, "Arise and Shine". It takes dedication, but is well worth it.

JANUARY 12, 2007

Well, after putting together the business plan for "Nourish Creations" it became clear that it just wasn't going to be worth the time and investment for the amount of expected profit. Unfortunately all of the governement regulations about labelling, etc. really add up. So, the plan is to have some vending booths at summer festivals and sell our fabulous burgers that way. Janet will also be meeting with Aimee of the Kaslo and Area Food Security Taskforce to work further on developing the idea of creating a community commercial kitchen within Kaslo for all interested parties to utilize.

DECEMBER 6th, 2006

Janet has just finished a three day workshop on writing Business Plans. She is busy preparing a plan for "Nourish Creations" to be run out of a commercial kitchen on the farm. She hopes to submit the plan to Community Futures this month and receive Self-Employment Funding to start-up the business at the end of January.

OCTOBER 31st, 2006

Halloween was a Spookshow this year with glowing jack-o-lanterns, wonderful costumes, a bonfire and fireworks to light up the sky. The kids put on a little play about Snow White, Winnie the Pooh and the Gypsy Queen, narrated by Ama Teresu, the Japanese Goddess. What a great opportunity to bring four such distinct characters together in a story!

SEPTEMBER 29th, 2006
We held a most successful Harvest Faire today. The kids were playing, local musicians came out to entertain us, we provided a free lunch to about 150 people, The Wassabi Collective graced the stage well into the evening and a great time was had by all. Throughout the day there were probably over 250 people here, and many people have already come forth to volunteer their time to help with next year's faire. Thanks everyone for making it so great.

JUNE 21st, 2006
The Solstice was celebrated with a wonderful turn-out for our production of "The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig". We had a potluck dinner with visitors in attendence all the way from Northern Canada, a bonfire and bluegrass music for everyone to enjoy.
